Collette Caton and Jonathan Polk's YouTube video response to readings from Kairos has been picked up and posted on the Kairos website to introduce a new section of the journal called "Disputatio: A Reader's Forum." MARC graduate student Courtney Werner presented her panel, Moving Feminisms Forward: Making Feminists into Cyborgs, at the Southwest Popular Culture and American Culture Association (SW PCA & ACA) Conference on Gender and Technology, Feb. 2008.
MARC graduate student Gina Guzman presented her paper, College Writing Centers and Chicanos/as on the Border, at the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies Tejas Regional Conference, Mi Educacion es la Causa: Chicana and Chicano Pedagogy in the 21st Century in McAllen, TX on February 28th- March 1st 2008.
MARC graduate students Collette Caton, Jon Polk, Courtney Werner presented their panel, Writing Center as Student Service: Rhetorical Choices and the Art of Voicing Students' Needs, at the South Central Writing Centers Association Conference in March 2008 at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma.
MARC graduate student Gina Guzman presented her paper, Minority Students on the Periphery: Domesticating Canagarajah's Geopolitics in Writing Centers, at the 2008 NACCS Conference XXXV Poesia, Baile y Cancion: The Politics, Implications, and Future of Chicana/os' Cultural Production on March 19-22 in Austin, TX. She also presented her paper at the CCCC Convention: Writing Realities, Chaging Realities in New Orleans, LA on April 2-5, 2008.
MARC graduate students Jenna Allen, Mary McCulley, Gwen Templin, and Melinda Rothouse, and Dr. Rebecca Jackson presented their panel, Writing Center as Performance Space, at the South Central Writing Centers Association Conference in March 2008 at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma.
MARC graduate students Courtney Werner and Collette Caton, and MA Lit graduate student Marcus Piazzola presented their panel, Graphic Novel as Textbook: Alternative Realities for Composition Instruction, at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in New Orleans, April 2008. Dr. Jaime Mejia was chair of the panel.
Barbara L'Eplattenier, Susan McLeod, Barry Maid, and Dr. Deborah Balzhiser Morton (w/ Tom Miller who facilitated but did not include his name) conducted their workshop seminar on "Creating and Revamping Majors in Writing and Rhetoric" at the CCCCs in New Orleans, April 2008.
